Winter is coming! Winter is probably my favorite season just because of how simple it is to style and how many different looks you can create with just one piece. Like any season, there are things that every guy should have just to survive the cold in a stylish manner:
It should be a crime not to have one of these in your wardrobe. Looks great in black; navy blue; and military green. If you can find a parka with fur lining, like the one below, then you will be miles ahead of the pack! If not anything else, this is the ONE piece you need! I would go to Topman; River Island or Woolworths to look for these at great prices.
Chelsea boots are probably the most popular boots for winter right now! This is probably because of how easy to style they can be. They can really help bring some edge to your look, whether casual or formal, if worn correctly. They look great in brown suede or in brown leather but I would recommend leather as it is less likely to get damaged in the rain, and they will look better with age! Topman; Woolworths; and Stuttafords always have a great selection. (Left: Saint Laurent suede $800+-; Right: Woolworths leather R999)
Yes, the bomber jacket works for winter too! As I have said in my previous posts on bomber jackets, they are timeless therefore a great addition to your wardrobe. For winter, I would advise black; olive green or navy blue to be safe. Turquoise nylon, as seen below, is more risky but the plus-side is that it does add some edge to your look! River Island; Topman; Markham; G-Star; Diesel; and YDE all have a great selection.
This piece is not everyone. Only reason being is that some people find it hard to style with everyday looks. The trick is to not even think about it. Try wearing dark jeans, maybe not black; boots(brogue/chelsea ); faded sweaters; and collard shirts. Fit is very important as you do not want the coat to be too tight but not too baggy unless you have it specially tailored to look over-sized. Remember: over-sized and baggy are two different things. The coat below is from Spree’s AW15 show and is available on their website!
Luxe Leather slip-on sneakers:
Long name right?! Well the luxe is just there to make them sound less like VANS and more like Zara. These are new on my radar, I have seen them in street style shots on the likes of Chiara Ferragni; and Cara Delevingne but never on men until they were the craze at Pitti Uomo this year along with the Stan Smiths! They look comfortable; easy to style; and affordable. The ones pictured below (RIGHT) are from Common Projects. I would try Zara; Topman; and Markham for these before trying online.
That wraps it up for my winter essentials so far! I hope you like some of them and actually buy these things. Winter really is the season where you can up your game but it can also be the worst 3/4 months of your ‘fashion life’ if you do not prepare.
